Dictionary Presentations

The President, Maureen Maltby, along with several members of the Birtley Rotary Club attended the local primary schools again this year to present their gifts of Dictionarys to each pupil about to move up to a senior school. Each child was presented with a book especialy designed and made for Rotary containing a leaf page inscribed with the individuals name plus a seperate page for the signatures of those friends wishing to be remembered by the pupil.
It was a great pleasure to see such well mannered young people acting in such a delightful manner, Their actions and discipline reflect the teaching they receive at such fine schools, and the Rotary Club of Birtley are pleased to be associated with them and their teachers.
The procedure has been repeated by members of the Rotary Club at the schools of Birtley East, Ravensworth, Portobello, Barley Mow, St; Josephs, Kibblesworth, Ouston and St; Bennets. The project was matched by last years appreciation and we know that the Rotarians got as much pleasure from the presentations as the recipients.
All of the occasions were well attended with many proud parents being delighted at the shows being put on by their children, convincing us yet again that this has to be one of the best projects Rotary has devised where everyone is a winner. The video of the childrens Concert at Birtley East was video'd and copies can be obtained by parents from the Secretary/Head Teacher.
