A Christmas dinner taken
at the Durham New College
where the students and
lecturers serve excellent
food . We go there a
couple of times each year
for the fellowship.

Haworths 1940 weekend
They turn the clock back
and everything is at wartime
era, dress, vehicles,
tradesmen and uniforms.
plus a flypast of wartime
planes just over the
rooftops.

Some of the members and
friends attending a garden
party at Les' house, Harry
and his wife Manjinder
were dressed in
traditional clothes on a
perfect day for it.

A Presidents Dinner Dance, where the ladies dance and the gents look on. Usually with a glass in the hand.
photo-murdernight.JPGThe President wanted a Murder
Mystery Night
instead of the usual
formal dinner  dance. Every one dressed in costume and we solved 8 murders that night.

photo-pitlochery.JPG A visit to the Highland games
while we were visiting several
of the Whisky distilleries in
Scotland. Another good idea
of our social  officer Les.
We met the Pitlochery
Rotary Club while there
and enjoyed their hospitality
and expert commentary
on the games.
This is Rob Hutchinson  on a
visit to the UK, he happened to
meet the P.M. of that time
and this is the
 Canadian Mountie in
Tony Blairs study.

And then it was Party time at the Presidents home, where Harry and Manjinder hosted an 'Indian Evening' for all to attend.
Approximately sixty people were there to try out the sumptuous food laid on by Manjinder and her friends, an open patio where course after course was tried and tested by many who had never been so adventurous before, yet everyone declared it to be a wonderful spread, the main room was given over to allow the ladies some beauty treatment and try out some of the beautiful Sari's on display. While the men tried on the Sikh turbans, one of which measured out at fifteen metres of material, Harry being the one to fit each willing person individually.

Two young ladies gave us an exhibition of Indian Dancing while cameras flashed and one young lady sang a few songs to entertain the ensemble.

The entire evening was one which I know will take some beating. Vice President Maureen made a small speech thanking the President and his family for laying on such a wonderful evening which managed to raise eleven hundred pounds, funds which will be presented to the McMillan nurses cancer research, along with the three hundred pounds plus, raised at Ros' coffee morning the day before.
